You guys are AWESOME!!! On this adventure, it looks like you traveled on a roadster, ultr-light airplane, boat, plane and what looks like a little jitney! Here's to the modern-day adventurers, Dana and Scott! What pluck, courage and fun you have! Love you, Mom.
We are enjoying every minute of your diary and so are many others. Your pictures are great, wish I could climb into the one of the beach in Boracay :) We think of you every day and wonder what new experience will come your way. Sending our love, Aunt Jan and Uncle Steve
We've been enjoying all the pictures and can't wait to ask a million questions about the trip so far. I guess we'll wait until we can get together after you return to the USA.
I'm still on a 'food kick' about what you have tried in the Philippines. Did you try any of these?
Adobo is made from chicken, pork, squid (pusit) or vegetables stewed in vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, peppercorns and bay leaf.
Lumpia or better known as spring rolls in English is filled with vegetables and meat. This dish tastes great when served with soy sauce, vinegar or a slightly sweet sauce.
Sinigang -The lightly boiled, slightly sour soup served with rice. This soup is cooked using souring agents like unripe guavas, tamarind leaves and flowers, kamias and tomatoes.
Bistek - beef and onion rings braised in soy sauce. This dish is what one would call beef steak.
Lechon is a suckling pig, slowly roasted over live coals to make it crispy and tasty.
bibingka - pudding made of ground rice, sugar and coconut milk, baked in a clay oven, topped with fresh, salted duck eggs
